Cottage pie

This is a meal where everyone thinks that there mum or grandma or some form of relative makes the best. And not for one second do I feel like mine is the absolute best, but to me and my family, it is.

To start it off dice 1 large onion and place it into a hot pan with oil. Next add some chopped mushrooms, 4 fresh garlic cloves which have been sliced and your mince. Keep this frying until your mince has completely cooked through. Now to add your seasoning. Add 1 tbsp. of dried mixed herbs, 1/2 tsp of paprika, sea salt to taste and, black pepper to taste. Then add 1 tin of chopped tomatoes. Fry this until you have evaporated most of the tomato water.

Put your oven on at 180 degrees. Add some gravy granules to your mince mix, just to add to the overall meaty flavour. In separate pans, put some peas, diced carrots and, potatoes on to boil.

Once they have boiled, add the carrots and peas to the meat mixture and then place into a ‘oven to table’ serving dish. Mash up your potatoes with a knob of butter and some milk to make it smooth, then put this on top of the meat mixture, then to finish the dish, grate some cheese and put that on top of the mash. Bake this for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
