Steak and chips.

For this meal you would want to buy a stake that is approximately 250g and thick rather than a thin steak.

To start off preheat your oven to 180 degrees C.Β  Then prepare your vegetables, I chose to have broccoli and carrots on the side and to cook some mushrooms with the steaks. But you can change it to whatever you and your guests prefer.

First slice your potatoes into chips or wedges. Make sure you dry the potato before using it. Place them onto an oven tray, evenly separated. I made a mixture of BBQ sauce and smoked bourbon hot sauce to coat my wedges, along with salt and pepper. I let these bake for 15 minutes before starting my steak.

Now is the time to start your veg.

In a oven safe pan heat up some butter, smashed garlic and, fresh thyme. Season your steak with some sea salt and black pepper before adding your steak to the pan. Your pan must be nice and hot before using it. Place your steak into the pan and seer. Using a spoon, pour the butter over the steak to make sure the steak is all perfectly flavoured. Once your steak has caramelised on one side, it is time to turn it over. Allow this to sit for the same amount of time on the other side. Once your steak is the perfect colour on all sides.

Place the pan into the oven for 10 minutes for that perfect medium rare. Take your steak out of the oven first so it has time to rest before you serve it.

I hope you enjoy this meal and don’t forget that this meal is perfect for date night πŸ™‚
